Get Out and See “Get Out”

Get Out Scares Up $78 Million Domestically to Date

By Vince Bowman

“Get Out” is the smart, horror movie that’s taken in a ton of money with virtually unknown actors and a budget of $4.5 million. David, an African American photographer, takes a trip with his caucasian girlfriend of five months, Rose, to meet her parents at their out-of-way suburban home. David, played by Daniel Kaluuya, is an appealing and unassuming character in “Get Out”. Rose, played by Allison Williams, is just as alluring pulling us deeper into the movie.

When they get to the house Rose’s parents, actors Bradley Whitford and Catherine Keener, welcome David with open arms. Rose’s father is a neurosurgeon and her mother is a phychiatrist. But after a night at Rose’s parents’ home he wants to leave. And with good reason.

“Get Out” is written, produced, and directed by Jordan Peele, the bi-racial funnyman we are accustomed to seeing teamed up with Keegan-Michael Key. Jordan Peele interweaves social issues, comedy and horror with surgical precision. If you like suspense and horror and don’t mind a little bit of campy in your movies you will love “Get Out”!
